A rose of 2 tones

It's been awhile. June has been insanely well just insane. Between the loss of our sweet Umi and the move into our new home I have not had a moment to take any shots. I know I should be documenting this whole move but I just couldn't find the inspiration inside of me to do it. I am slowly finding some time and pieces of inspiration but I am also taking it easy as we prepare for the birth of our Sprout.

Well I love our new home and we are settling in, despite the ants that seem to be everywhere this year. One thing I really love about our new home are the beautiful gardens. They are so full of history and love. I plant to give them lots of love as well and spent the better part of this weekend weeding and pruning, I can see it will be a never ending task but will be well worth the beauty and joy the gardens bring.

Umi Sweet Pea

Umi Sweet Pea!
Originally uploaded by Tammy Faye Breakher

It is with a very heavy and grieving heart that I share that our Umi passed away last night. She seemed to not be acting like her usual self any longer and had spent the past 2 days in hiding. We brought her into the vet last night where they confirmed she was indeed suffering and there was not much else that could be done since the cancer had clearly spread into her lungs. We count ourselves lucky that she was able to fight the cancer for so long in 2007 her original diagnosis said she would have maybe 6 months. She fought it for 2 years. Cancer is a cruel and unrelenting disease.

She was the most loving cat I have ever met with the biggest heart and an inspirational inner strength that far exceeds my own. We have loved her from the very moment we laid eyes on her at the shelter. Gina and I brought her home the night we saw her and she ingrained herself in our lives and our hearts. She was a great character with so many funny antics. Every step and every breath I take reminds me of my sweet Umi Sweet Pea. She stood by me through so much.

She passed away purring in my arms but that doesn't make this any easier for Domenick and I and our path ahead without our sweet Umi.

Ocean Grove

Ocean Grove
Originally uploaded by jakrandomart

We spent last Saturday in beautiful Ocean Grove, NJ. We try to go every spring and fall for the Ocean Grove Flea Market. Although this year we didn't buy anything, except a cool vintage photo album, it was a treasure trove for photos! I will post more in the next few days as I go through and edit them but you can find lot's more here

This shot was taken on the Ocean Grove board walk. It was one of the places we originally thought of for our wedding ceremony but since the town is owned by the church they banned all marriages on their board walk to avoid the issue of gay marriage and civil unions.

It is time that we stand up and grant for equal rights for everyone. Personally I don't care who you marry and wish you all the happiness you can get from this world no matter who you are. I try not to get too political on here so I will stop there.

If you or anyone you know is having a party or event you would like photographed please contact me jakrandomart@gmail.com
